Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone who may have any information regarding the destruction of three poppy wreaths at the Crediton War Memorial at approximately 1am last night.

A male and a female, both in their teens, were seen setting fire to the wreaths. A witness ran over to stop them and the vandals ran away across Newcombes Park.

The destroyed wreaths have been removed from the site.
