CREDITON’S Tesco store at Wellparks was evacuated today (May 28) after the fire alarm sounded.

Customers and staff members were rushed to the front car park shortly after 2pm. The whole evacuation lasted less than two minutes.

Everyone remained calm, joked and were in good spirits, amongst the confusion.

One staff member said: “It’s frustrating but at leasts the sun’s out”.

After a 10 minute wait, the store re-opened.

It is still unclear as to what caused the alarm exactly although the senior management believe a fire door was accidentally opened triggering the alarm.
