THE new season of talks hosted by Crediton Area History and Museum Society (CAHMS) kicks off on Monday, September 8 with a presentation by Dr Peter Selley on Crediton’s Contribution to Medical History.

Peter, a retired local GP, will be talking about doctors and their patients in the Crediton area over three centuries – including the surprising tale of a chimney sweep who survived appendix surgery in 1731, before the introduction of antiseptics and anaesthesia.

The talk will be held at the Boniface Centre, Crediton, starting at 7.30pm.

Admission is £2 for CAHMS members, non-members £5.

Please be aware that CAHMS AGM (members only, please) will be held at 7pm, immediately before the talk.
