THE Crediton Singers held a special social event on Monday, July 17 to invite current and new choir members to present cheques to local good causes.
The choir’s publicity officer, Marie Elliott, said: “When we formed the choir our aim was not only to encourage people who hadn’t sung before to get involved with us but to raise money for local charities.
“So far we’ve raised thousands for local good causes and are thrilled to have been able to present a cheque for £413 to the FORCE Cancer Charity.
“This was the result of our recent concerts. We were also able to donate £192 to Stockleigh Pomeroy Parish Church. Small parishes face a constant struggle for money and we are pleased to help.”
Marie added: “Over the summer we are continuing to meet as we have a very exciting season ahead of us with a big concert at Crediton Parish Church scheduled for Saturday, December 16.
“Ours is a choir full of wonderful people who never thought they’d be in a choir. Our doors are always open to new singers and we welcome their enquiries.”
“The more singers we have the more concerts we can present and the more we can do for the local community.”
Annie Jones, Crediton Singers concert manager added: “If you want to sing this summer, have fun and make good friends then we look forward to hearing from you.
“We can be contacted by email: [email protected] or telephone 07833 897 324 and we have a “Facebook” group.”
On receiving the cheque, vice chairman of the Crediton Friends of FORCE, Pat Sneddon, thanked the Crediton Singers and the audiences who donated the generous amount raised at recent concerts.
