A TOTAL of 110 people attended a successful quiz evening at the Boniface Centre, in Crediton, on Saturday, January 19 which raised funds for the work of Connect.

A lovely meal was prepared and served by the Crediton Connect team - consisting of reps from all the different local churches including the Congregational Church, the Roman Catholic Church, Methodist Church and Parish Church. The team was headed up by Wendy Añez (Chair for the Crediton area of Connect).

Wendy told the Courier: The team worked tirelessly leading up to the event and on the night. Ann and Julian Varker from the Methodist Church ran the quiz itself and it was brilliant.

“There was a bar and raffle also with a lovely selection of prizes. There were nibbles on the tables on arrival, the room was decorated in the colours of Connect - red and yellow.

“The meal consisted of a choice of curries (beef madras and chicken korma as well as a choice of plain boiled rice or garlic rice), and veggie options.

“This was followed by chocolate fudge cake or strawberry cheesecake for dessert.

“More than £1,100 was raised for the work of Connect and we thank everyone who came along to support us on the evening.

“We have had an incredible amount of positive feedback from those who attended and had a great evening commenting on how lovely the evening was, the wonderful vibe, the delicious food and the quality of the quiz itself.

“We look forward to doing it all again next year!”
