THE Crediton premiere of “Fort Box”, a short drama film shot in Crediton, will take place at Queen Elizabeth’s Lower School Barnfield Campus at 3pm on Sunday, April 29, a new date after the scheduled screening had to be postponed because of the snow.

Filmed primarily during the summer of 2016, and with the help of more than 250 people, the UK’s largest cardboard box fort (and quite possibly the largest outside of America!) was built in Newcombes Meadow in Crediton by kind permission of Mid Devon District Council.

The film producer and director, Dom Lee, from Crediton, said: “You’ll be able to spot familiar sights from around the town and even a few cameo appearances from well-known local people. Proceeds from the premiere will be donated to Hospiscare.

’Ten-year-old James and his Mum love nothing more than constructing things from cardboard, darting round the house in their cardboard box car creation.

“Mum has an idea for their most ambitious project to-date - a cardboard box fort made from thousands of boxes.

“After a turn of events, James and Dad take over the planning of the fort and set out to build it with the help of the local community…”

Dom said that following the screening there will be a short Question and Answer session with himself and some of the cast and crew.

The film has been rated as “PG” as some scenes may be upsetting for younger children.

Tickets cost £4 and are available to purchase from A E Lee Outfitters on Crediton High Street.

They can also be purchased online from: https://fortbox.eventbrite.co.uk . Please note though that if purchased online there is an additional 40p booking charge.

Dom added: “If there is any individuals or business owners who might be interested in sponsoring the event then I’d love to hear from them. This would help cover some of the costs in putting the screening on and mean more money can be donated to Hospiscare.”

If you have any questions about the screening or being a possible sponsor, you can email Dom at: [email protected] .
