FOLLOWING a series of break-ins to business premises in Mid Devon during recent months, where keys have been located and vehicles stolen, the Crediton local policing team would like to take this opportunity to share some crime prevention advice.

The advice is:

• Take keys out of locks as a burglar could reach through a letterbox or cat flap.

• Install a burglar alarm. Make sure all staff members know how to work the alarm and use it daily.

• Close and lock windows.

• Lock your premises and secure tools and ladders inside, ideally hidden from view.

• Install lights outside to light pathways at night.

• Make sure any gates cannot be climbed over and secure them with appropriate locks.
