THERE is good news for motorists today, Thursday, January 29, after Devon Highways contractors filled a deep pothole which has been catching motorists driving along the A377 between Downes Corner to Hookway Cross on the outskirts of Crediton.

Many motorists reported the pothole near Ladds Computers, many sustaining flat tyres, damage to cars and broken wheels as a result of striking the pothole.

Devon Highways contractors temporarily closed the A377 for a short period last night, the evening of Wednesday, January 28, to repair potholes in the North Devon area.

The recent storms, rain and flooding has seriously damaged the road network across Devon which, at 13,000km, makes it the largest road network of any local highway authority in England.

Devon County Council has a backlog of reported potholes to repair.

There are still many in the Crediton and Mid Devon area which are in need of repair and which are becoming an obstacle for motorists to avoid.

Potholes filled with water are unfortunately difficult to see.
