A CRAFT Fair held at Crediton Parish Church on Saturday, May 28 was a huge success, with approximately 500 visitors.

The event raised £1,155.83 for the upkeep and maintenance of Crediton Parish Church building.

Many of the hand-crafted items were created using recycled materials.

Organiser, Stella Stephens said: “It was an amazing day with one lady saying the crafts on display were better than the National Trust and Rosemoor craft festivals!

“The amount of time everyone had spent making them was unbelievable.

“It was lovely to provide an opportunity for people who learnt new crafts during the lockdowns to be able to sell them.

“As always the standard of homemade cakes in the Boniface Centre cafe during the event were stunning.

“I would like to publicly thank all the stallholders for making it such a fantastic occasion as not only did they spend the day in church but also making everything beforehand and delivering and setting up their stalls so beautifully.”

The Craft Fair was the last event for Stella as co-ordinator as she is stepping down.

She added: “I would also like to thank the festivals committee and the volunteers for their unstinting support during the last seven years of my tenure.

“Of particular note I would like to acknowledge the amazing support that the Crediton Courier has given to myself and the festivals through all the promotion of the events, but also the wonderful photos ensuring a record for future generations.

“I look forward to visiting the next festival and catching up with everyone.”

The Church Restoration Committee is now looking for a new volunteer co-ordinator for this year’s Christmas Tree Festival.

As the co-ordinator you won’t be on your own as the current committee has a good grasp of the festival.
