CREDITON Judo Club recently held its annual end of year award ceremony.

Trophies and certificates that were given out, in front of parents, included Team Games Champions. Throughout the year games were organised and four teams battled it out for supremacy. The winning team comprised of Hugh Willman, Dillon O'Connor, Lewis Terry, Gilbert Peck, Hannah Turner and Aya Palima.

Other awards were: Etiquette - Harry Bigrigg; Perseverance - Oliver Way, Effort - Fred Peck; Breakfaller - Gilbert Peck; Spirit of Judo - Zak Bennett; Pupil of the year - Jacob Turner.

Devon School for Judo and Jujitsu centres held a grading in Crediton for its junior members. Nearly 80 children (young samurai as they are known) descended on the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre for their graduation.

Members of the Crediton club were well represented and the children all passed. They were presented with there grades by Sensei Nigel Hoskins 5th Dan.

Nigel said that the young children had all performed very well and they are all making good progress.

All the parents came along to see them displaying their skills, the audience were stunned.

Results of the grading are as follows: Zac Bennett Yellow plus four orange bars; Jacob Turner Yellow plus two orange bars; Hugh Willman Yellow plus one orange bar; Evelyn Willman Yellow belt; Dillon O'Connor white plus four yellow bars; Arthur Willman, Lewis Terry, Fred and Gilbert Peck all got four white bars; Oliver Way, Jack Johnson, Hannah Turner, Oyo and Aya Palima all had two White bars.

January's pupil of the month certificate went to Oliver Way.
