CREDITON'S Sixth Food and Drink Festival will take place in the Town Square, Crediton, on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15. The Festival starts on the Saturday at 10.30am, with an opening by Crediton Mayor, Cllr Frank Letch and runs until 3pm, followed by an evening event from 8pm to 11pm, which will include live music and local food and drink. During Saturday it will feature not only a range of stalls selling great food and drink from local producers but there will also be a number of food-related demonstrations as well as activities for children. Cookery demonstrations that day will begin at 11am with Vanessa Nuthall of Nessie's Bistro showing what wonderful dishes can be prepared using fresh pasta. At 12 noon Il Casita's Nicholas Hack will produce a Mediterranean influenced fish dish using turbot. Following this, at 1pm, Andrew Cross of Cox's the Butchers will show how to cut up a lamb carcass and finally at 2pm, Tim Harris (The Devon Chef), will make some lamb dishes with the cuts. Everyone is invited back to the Town Square on Sunday, June 15 (don't forget it is Fathers' Day so a great way to treat Dad or Grandad) for the Big Sunday Lunch. It will run from 12 noon to 3pm and everyone is invited to take along their own picnic and/or buy from the wide range of stallholders who will be present. Those attending will be able to enjoy lunch accompanied, again, by live music. Make this a mid-summer weekend to remember. Entry is free to all parts of the event.
