STARTING on More4 at 9pm on Monday, April 1, is a brand new series on Devon and Cornwall, following a host of fascinating characters who reveal what it is really like to live and work in the far South West corner of Britain.

The series of eight weekly programmes includes Crediton geologist Dr Kevin Page in the final programme on Monday, May 20.

Kevin will be shown planning an expedition in an attempt to uncover secrets from the county’s prehistoric past.

He travels to the south coast where he explores the cliffs between Seaton and Lyme Regis looking for ammonites – curly shelled molluscs that lived on earth nearly 200 million years ago.

This is a unique stretch of coastline and so rich in fossils it has an entire geological time period named in its honour – the Devonian Period.

Kevin makes a good find while being filmed, so it will be an interesting episode.

Programme visits include fishing and gig racing at Clovelly, rethatching a roof in Cockington, meeting farmers affected by Bovine TB, rock climbing off the Jurassic Coast, a visit to Widecombe Fair, a visit to Exmoor, fishing at Brixham, hill ponies on Dartmoor and a visit to the last remaining pony market at Chagford and fishing at Brixham.

There is a visit to Torquay, Dartmoor National Park, ice creams at Appledore, crafting wooden boats and mussel farming.
