A FOUR-year-old Crediton boy has raised £300.30 for Pippins Pre-School in Crediton by running more than 10 miles.

Leo Hargreaves had been a pupil at Pippins since he was aged nine-months-old and only recently left to attend Sandford School.

His father Neil explained: "My oldest son recently graduated from Pippins nursey and as a leaving gift has raised money for the Pippins charity."

Mum Heather added: "We used the ‘Race at Your Pace’ incentive for Leo’s challenge and chose the 10-mile challenge for August. The incentive aims to inspire everyone to find a love for running, fitness and activity including young people which can be found at: https://www.raceatyourpace.co.uk/kids/ .

"Being that Leo is only four, we decided to take part in the five-mile challenge in July to keep him active during the summer and he enjoyed it that we moved on to the 10-mile challenge in August.

"We decided to fundraise as a ‘thank you’ to Pippins during this challenge since he was leaving the setting to start Sandford School the following month.

"He now wants to do the 20-mile challenge!

Leo presented the cheque to Pippins manager Hazel Hodge and First Assistant Manager, Michelle Dymond.

Leo said he wanted the money to be used for boys toys and was presented with a certificate and the gift of a dinosaur modelling set as a "thank you" gift.

Leo’s fundraising page is still accepting donations for Pippins at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/heather-hargreaves-1 .

Donations can also be made direct to Pippins.
