THOSE of you who visit the Saturday Farmers’ Market in Crediton will know that I hold an open-air surgery from 10am to 11am.
It gives me the chance (with the help of my daughter and grandchildren) to hand out the latest Town Council Newsletter, battery recycling bags and dog poo bags.
It is also a chance for Kirtonians to chat to me about ideas to improve the town, issues and complaints and the occasional praise.
Last Saturday was no exception with people liking the lights and tree on the square and complaints about an over zealous traffic warden dishing out parking tickets to the few cars parked on the High Street on the bank holiday.
One issue that came up was dog fouling and the effectiveness of Mid Devon’s dog warden.
We are questioning the time the warden spends here. However I find myself getting very cross at this issue.
The Town Council gives out free poo bags in the office but still our streets are dirty with the dog fouling left by selfish and unscrupulous dog owners who often go out under cover of darkness.
So I urge all dog owners to clear up after their pooing pooches and the rest of us keep a watchful eye out so we can shame those who might think of walking away from a dog mess they should be picking up.
Frank Letch
Mayor of Crediton
