THE Rowell Centre, a day service provider in Crediton for adults with learning difficulties, was established in 2014 when Devon County Council made cut backs on its similar Crediton day centres.
Sallyann Botting and Helen Cann run the service, which operates from the Karis Hall at Crediton Congregational Church from 10am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday.
Activities include cooking, road safety, keeping safe, internet access, iPad and computers, shopping, socialising, exercise, healthy eating, communication skills, art and crafts, independence, advocacy and lots more.
Sallyann and Helen explained: “Our aim is to support people to access the community and to provide a range of activities.
“We support people with independent living skills.
“Many of those who come along consider it as a lifeline or going to work and they all rely on the service we provide.
“Currently we have spaces for more clients, so if anyone would like to find out more, they are welcome to get in touch.”
The Rowell Centre’s name was adopted from the late Martyn Rowell, who was a huge part of the Devon County Council day centre in Crediton. He was very enthusiastic towards life and everyone around him and is always in the thoughts of those involved in the centre.
The Karis Hall at the church was recently improved and now The Rowell Centre has lots of space and comfortable surroundings.
There is wheelchair access, toilet facilities (including people with disabilities) and parking.
If you would like to find out more about the vacancies, whether single day or full sessions, please telephone 07519 720647 or email: [email protected] .
