A CHINESE restaurant on Crediton High Street has been allowed to stay open later – but not as long as it wanted to.
Sami Chakmakchi of Yummy Tummy Chinese had applied to provide “late-night refreshment” (serve hot food or drinks) until 5am, but Mid Devon District Council has decided the restaurant can only do so until 1am amid noise concerns from Searle Street residents and the council’s public health service. It must also close at 1am.
The local authority has told the restaurant it must display notices asking patrons to “respect the needs of local residents and businesses and to leave the vicinity as quickly and quietly as possible”, and display a telephone number for people to call “in case of noise nuisance or anti-social behaviour by persons or activities associated with the premises”.
The restaurant has also been granted permission to serve alcohol until 11pm and play recorded music indoors until midnight.
