THE University of the Third Age (U3A) is a national movement in which retired or semi-retired people pool their considerable knowledge, experience and skills for the benefit of all.

Crediton and District U3A is a very strong club and to welcome people back to face-to-face meetings and welcome prospective new members, a series of free taster sessions and talks have been arranged.

The Crediton branch chairman, Richard Durant, said: “We have arranged these events to raise the profile of U3A after the pandemic and to appeal to people to bring them out of their homes. We also hope they will enable new opportunities.”

All the events are free-of-charge and include:

Tuesday, September 14 - 11am to 12.30pm - Find out about Crediton U3A and what it does. Free tea/coffee. The Three Little Pigs.

Saturday, September 18 - Historical Buildings Group - 11am - Keith Barker - Tour of Crediton Parish Church. Meet at the Church.

Monday, September 20 - Craft/Collage Taster - 1.30pm to 3.30pm - Jane Innes - Crediton Library - Telephone Jane to book your place on 01363 84376.

Tuesday, September 21 - Short Walk Taster - 10am to 12 noon - Ann Lightwood - Meet at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre.

Tuesday, September 21 - Tony Gale and John Heale - History Group Taster: Town History Walk - 6.30pm - Meet Crediton Town Square.
