AGE Concern Crediton & District will be holding their Annual General Meeting at The Lady Mills Centre in Deep Lane on Monday, September 25, at 4pm.
The theme of the meeting will be "Care for the Elderly and our Part in It" and it will include a talk by Exeter GP Doctor Leo Clarke, who is well-known for his bright and engaging presentations, and his work with projects for the elderly in Exeter. His subject will be “Aspects of Health for the retired.”
AGE Concern aims is to promote positive attitudes to ageing and to relieve isolation and loneliness, and their services are provided as a response to the needs of older people.
The Day Centre in Deep Lane operates from Monday to Friday from 10am to 2.30 pm, providing transport to and from home, a wide range of activities and occasional outings, which give stimulation, a sense of purpose, self-worth, social contact and enjoyment.
A two-course homemade lunch is included in the day.
The centre is dementia friendly and wheelchair accessible.
A home service is also provided and includes an hour’s befriending at home, a cleaning service or assistance with shopping.
A foot care service and an art club are held at the centre, as well as an over 50’s keep fit session at the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre.
Profits from the charity shop on the High Street contribute to the running of the centre.
