CREDFEST, the town’s bi-annual community festival is bidding to bag a cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative for this year’s events taking place this summer between June 3 and 24.
Tesco teamed up with Groundwork to launch the monthly funding scheme, which sees grants of £5,000, £2,000 and £1,000 – all raised from the 5p bag levy – being awarded to local outdoor community projects.
Three groups in every Tesco region have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and this month shoppers are being invited to head along to local Tesco stores to vote for who they think should take away the top grant.
CredFest is one of the groups on the shortlist.
CredFest works voluntarily behind the scenes to bring together the local talent in Crediton; the choirs and musicians, the sportsmen and women, the dog shows and the dancers, the schools and the drama groups, and the organising team need the public’s help to stage them safely and to publicise the events.
You can vote for CredFest at the Crediton Tesco store at Wellparks.
CredFest festival organiser Rachel Vowles, said: "We’re a small country town with not a lot in the way of resources, but we’ve got a great plan and some great people!
"We’re bringing together some really talented local folk and we’re raising our sights to make this an even better town to live in!"
Voting is open in stores now until January 28.
Tesco’s Bags of Help project has already delivered more than £24 million to more than 2,400 projects up and down the UK.
Tesco customers get the chance to vote for three different groups each month. At the end of each month, when votes are collected, three groups in each of Tesco’s regions are awarded funding.
