Council takes a strong stance on anti-social behaviour

MID Devon District Council was awarded a Civil Injunction with powers of arrest against a tenant in Copplestone and her partner, who does not live with her, at Exeter County Court on August 7.

This was in response to complaints of harassment by the pair towards neighbours, including verbal abuse, loud music and anti-social behaviour.

They were also rude and abusive towards two of Mid Devon District Council officers who went to discuss the issues with them at home.

In accordance with the terms of the Injunction, the tenant and her partner are forbidden from:

Assaulting, threatening to assault, molesting, harassing or otherwise interfering with the residents living in the vicinity of their home in Copplestone (this also applies to any visitors to the home)

Causing a nuisance or annoyance to residents living near them in Copplestone

Shouting, screaming or swearing at any Mid Devon District Council officer.

The Order is in place until August 19, 2017 and they will be arrested if they breach any part of it.

The council said: “The action taken demonstrates that the council will not tolerate any kind of anti-social behaviour towards tenants or staff.”
