COULD you help with preparing Poppy Appeal boxes and distributing them, or even help with collecting, Crediton Branch of the Royal British Legion is asking.

Jane Sansom, treasurer, told the “Courier”: “Our local committee is very small and due to recent illness, a few of our dedicated members are unable to give their full support to the Poppy Appeal this year. For this reason local collecting will be limited.

“Any help with preparing boxes and distributing in the first instance and later collecting of the same would be much appreciated.

“If you feel that you could give some time prior to Friday, October 25, when the collection boxes and poppies need to be distributed to shops and businesses in Crediton, and during the Poppy Appeal period, please contact the Chair on telephone number 01363 772348 or come along to our AGM. You do not have to be a RBL member.”

The Branch Annual General Meeting will be held at Clifford Gardens (lounge) on October 24 at 7.30pm. Nominations for officers will be made at the meeting.

The following day, Friday, October 25, the Poppy Appeal collection boxes/poppies will be distributed to the shops around Crediton High Street. Help from any RBL member or non-member would be much appreciated.

On Saturday, October 26, the Opening of the Annual Memorial Garden near the main gate at Crediton Parish Church will take place at 10.55am.
