CREDITON Library is hosting a free talk, “Cooking the books”, by food historian Dr Paul Cleave on Thursday, December 1 at 2pm.

Celebrity chefs, food programmes on TV, and recipes from the internet inspire many of us to cook.

However, don’t forget those cookery books in your kitchen, some may be vintage, but there are foodie secrets to be discovered in them!

From Balmoral shortbread and Exeter pudding to a Georgian trifle, enjoy a fascinating presentation on our culinary history. If you have a favourite cookery book or recipe take it along!

Tea and coffee will be provided by the Friends of Crediton Library and Dr Paul Cleave will be taking along some food samples.

Please book this free event in advance by contacting the library on 01363 772578 or drop in to book a place.
