MOTORISTS have expressed concerns about forthcoming highway works which will take place on the A377 and Joseph Locke Way, Crediton from June 29.
Tesco Stores Limited is legally responsible for these works under Sections 278 and 38 of the Highways Act and has appointed i-Civils Ltd as its delivery partner for these works.
The civil engineering and surfacing solutions company has written to local residents about the works, which it says are split into three phases, as follows:
Phase 1 (June 29 to July 24) - works to A377 at the roundabout with Joseph Locke Way and Wellparks Hill.
• A convoy system in operation will allow the travelling public access to Tesco.
• A diversion route will be in place from Cowley Bridge to Bickleigh to Crediton. (It is understood that this is to aid the time delays for lorries etc getting to the estate or through Crediton)
• Wellparks Hill to the entrance to Tarka Way will be shut for the duration of this phase. (It is understood that half of the Tesco roundabout will be dug up at a time)
Phase 2 (July 27 to August 28) - works to the north of Joseph Locke Way, between the A377 roundabout and the entrance to Tesco store.
• 2 or 3 way lights will manage traffic flow into Tesco.
Phase 3 (August 31 to October 23) - Works to re-surface Joseph Locke Way.
• Along Joseph Locke Way, 2 or 3 way lights will be moved to encompass work as we progress.
i-Civils says that it recognises the importance of maintaining access to businesses and residents along the A377.
Works will be undertaken during weekday daytime hours only, with no night or weekend working.
For Phase 1 and 2, a convoy system with three-way temporary traffic signals will operate during working hours and will be in place between 9am and 4.45pm.
Phase 3 will maintain the same working hours.
It adds that if anyone has specific operational requirements that should be considered during construction phasing, please contact the project team on 01392 466801 or email: [email protected]
