THERE was a good attendance at the St Boniface Statue in Newcombes Meadow, Crediton on Friday, June 5, St Boniface Day, when readings and prayers were said.

The Rector, Rev Matthew Tregenza, led the prayers and readings and there was also a talk by Bob Edwards, chairman of the Boniface Link Association.

Many Association members also attended as well as local people and members of the Society of St Boniface, who came from across the county.

Folk singer Jim Causley sang the “St Boniface Song”, which he composed a few years ago, during celebrations for Boniface while he was in Dokkum and Fulda.

Boniface was born Wynfrith in Crediton c675, became a missionary across Europe and is remembered for his life, legacy and local roots.
