SANDFORD Playgroup has received the gift of a new computer from a Crediton business.

Ladds Computers, of Downes Mill, Crediton, have supplied the playgroup not only with the computer but also an with Epsom printer, a computer desk and waterproof keyboard.

Play leader Mel Lindsay, said that the playgroup had wanted a new computer for some time and was very grateful to Alan Ladd of Ladds Computers for the new equipment.

She said: "The children have learned a lot of skills by playing the different games on the computer."

In return the children presented Alan with a giant "thank you" card, which contained pictures in it drawn by the children themselves.

Alan said: "Ladds is extremely proud to support local groups which help to make for a better community.

"This computer is equipped with a Key Stage skills package, which I know the playgroup will find very useful."

Mr Ladd also presented the playgroup with a cordless door bell, which had been donated by Adams Home Hardware of Crediton.

Sandford Playgroup runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and also provides an "early riser" and lunchtime service.

Two years ago the playgroup started accepting children aged just two years.

It has 41 children on the roll and most sessions are full.

Mel Lindsay added that the playgroup was "very popular and very successful" and had "good links" with Sandford School.
