CHULMLEIGH College is proud to celebrate the success of its pupil robotics team, Raiders of the Lost Bot, who were recently crowned overall winners at the regional FIRST LEGO League robotics competition.

After months of preparation involving design development, testing, and refinement, the team delivered an outstanding performance across all areas of the competition.

Judges praised the pupils’ robot for its thoughtful engineering and clear evidence of careful iteration throughout the design process.

The team also demonstrated impressive problem-solving skills during the mission challenges, showing resilience, creativity, and adaptability under pressure.

In addition to their technical achievement, the judges were particularly impressed by the team’s conduct throughout the event.

The Chulmleigh pupils were recognised for their strong sense of teamwork and their inclusive and supportive attitude towards other competing schools.

Throughout the day they were seen assisting fellow teams, sharing ideas, and offering encouragement, reflecting the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of engineering and scientific innovation.

Following the final round of judging, which combined scores for robot performance, design, teamwork, and problem solving, Raiders of the Lost Bot were announced as the overall champions of the competition.

The team’s victory marks an important milestone, but their journey is not yet complete.

As regional champions, the pupils have now qualified for the National Finals in Harrogate, where they will compete against leading robotics teams from across the country.

Preparations are already underway, with pupils reviewing their robot’s design, refining strategies for the mission table, and exploring further improvements to their engineering approach.
