THIS coming Sunday the main morning service at 9.30am in Crediton Parish Church will be a special service for Mothering Sunday but in the style of the informal first Sunday of the month “Celebrate” services which usually take place in the Boniface Centre.
The service is entitled “Helping Hands”; including the traditional Mothering Sunday distribution of posies, the service will celebrate the themes of loving and caring in the reading, talk and worship songs.
Rev Sue Rose, who leads the team delivering the Celebrate services, commented: “Though we often focus on this day on our earthly mothers and their roles in caring for us, this service reminds us how wider loving and caring are at the heart of the example which Jesus gave us and which the Mother Church continues to preach today.
“Whether you are on your own or coming as part of a family, we would love to see you there!”
With the first Sunday in April being Easter Day, when there will be a traditional Sung Eucharist at Holy Cross, the first Sunday Boniface Centre Services resume on May 3 when they will start to explore major figures from the Old Testament.
These services last no more than 40 minutes and are designed to appeal to all ages, younger children able to participate in an activity linked to the service theme.
The music is led by a mixed instrument band, afterwards all encouraged to enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee.
With the traditional said 8am service of Holy Communion and 6pm Choral Evensong led by the robed choir, the first Sunday worship pattern at Holy Cross is designed to offer something for everyone.
Full details of services, including on weekdays, are published in the monthly parish magazine, available at the back of the church or at the Boniface Centre, or look online at www.creditonparishchurch.org.uk .
