CHULMLEIGH Academy Trust has decided to close all four of its schools for two days due to forecast high temperatures.

Chulmleigh College, Chulmleigh Primary School, St Thomas of Canterbury C of E Primary School in Lapford and East Worlington Primary School will be shut on Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, June 25.

The trust said temperatures within classrooms had been “deemed too high” to be safe.

“While we remain committed to providing the highest quality education, our duty of care must come first,” said Chulmleigh Academy Trust CEO Neil Payne.

“Schools will provide work for pupils to complete during the closure period through their usual channels.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

“We hope that providing advance notice will help families plan accordingly during this temporary closure.

“Thank you for your cooperation.”
