FOR one day in the last week of term, Chulmleigh Academy Trust pupils wore their wellies, and primary school pupils wore their pyjamas to school in order to raise money for the Children’s Hospice South West.

A grand total of £599.40 was raised across the Trust: £293.13 by Chulmleigh Community College, £167.27 at Chulmleigh Primary School, £100 at East Worlington School and £39 at Lapford.

The Academy contributions were collected by the Chulmleigh Friends of Children’s Hospice South West, which was one of the two founding community voluntary groups which helped to provide the original administrative support team.

Since then the group has fundraised annually to help keep the beds open, having contributed £163,000 in the last 25 years.

Emma Perry, Fundraising Manager for Little Bridge House, said: “Well done to everyone involved. This is an incredible amount achieved and a real credit to the amount of hard work that is put in to organising this very special day and the wonderful support the Chulmleigh and area community give it.

“It was so lovely being able to share this day and have an opportunity to come along and meet all the little fundraisers at the schools who all looked great. We are so appreciative and cannot thank you all enough for being there for us.”
