“CHRISTMAS” was the title for the Crediton Flower Club’s November meeting - a demonstration by Donna Lamb from Bow.

Donna has a Masters Diploma in professional floristry and has been working at Susan’s Flower Shop in Crediton for 15 years.

Donna skilfully created five displays - her first being a welcome wreath.

The customary baubles, cones and cinnamon sticks were placed among the contrasting colours of holly and leylandii which produced a very pretty Christmassy wreath.

A rustic/mantelpiece arrangement came next. Two pieces of tree bark were cleverly joined together for the base, which enabled avalanche roses, eryngium and forget-me-nots to be arranged along the wooden base in groups. Very effective.

This was followed by a very attractive candle arrangement with the use of cordyline, beautiful orange mario roses, gold carnations and chrysanths.

Donna used tall branches of twisted willow for height in her next more modern arrangement. The willow was entwined with ivy, moluccella, and white roses.

For the finale Donna chose a tall glass vase as a container for her hand-tied arrangement.

For this she used flowing fern, white carnations, red roses and ilex berries. A delightful evening.

June Harry gave a vote of thanks.

The next meeting, at the Boniface Centre, will be on Thursday, December 14 at 7.15pm and will be the Christmas party.

New members and visitors are welcome.
