LADIES at St Swithun’s Church, Sandford have been busy putting together shoeboxes of donated items for the Samaritan’s Purse charity.

Organiser, Margaret Phillips and helpers, Elaine Stanlake, Jean Hallett, Pamela Tilney-Ellis and Simone Romain packed a number of shoeboxes in the Under Gallery of the church.

Altogether, a total of 76 shoeboxes were packed for the charity, containing gifts, donated by the congregation, members of the community and friends in Crediton including hand-knitted items, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, colouring books, pens, crayons, sweets, chocolates, toys and games.

All the shoeboxes were packed with gifts for either a boy or a girl and marked accordingly.

Margaret thanked everyone who contributed and helped from the Sandford community and friends in Crediton who make the appeal such a success.
