HUNDREDS of people filled Crediton’s Town Square when Crediton Town Band hosted its annual Christmas Carols in the Square.

The band played from 7pm to 8pm and everyone joined in with the singing, the rain holding off until just after the event finished.

Everyone dressed up warm and most took along a torch to read the Carol sheets available on the night.

Band members looked festive in Santa hats and everyone admired the Christmas in Crediton Committee big tree and lights around the Town Square, the additional lighting this year helping those without torches.

Carol song sheets were available for a donation and further donations were collected during the event in aid of Age Concern Crediton and Mid Devon Mobility (Crediton Community Transport).

Children gathered around the band during the singing of "Away in a Manger".

Compere was band conductor and musical director, Colin Crossman.

Lesley Rogers of Cheriton Fitzpaine provided sign support.

Band chairman Jenna Hansford thanked everyone for attending to support the third Community Carol Sing in the Town Square.

She said the event would not have been possible without the support of a number of people and organisations and expressed particular thanks to Ernest Jackson, Boniface Rotary and the Lions for their assistance.

Finally she asked that if anyone would like to learn a brass instrument and join the band, to please get in touch via the band website: www.creditontownband.org.uk or telephone her on 01363 777423 or email her at: [email protected] .

The event proved to be another fantastic festive town community event.
