THE AGM of Cheriton Fitzpaine Carnival Club was held recently in the parish hall where several representatives of those clubs which had entered floats this year were present.
The 2016 Carnival had been very successful, one of the few left in any of the Mid Devon villages. Chairman, Brenda Fowler thanked all those who had either worked on the Committee, lent and/or driven tractors and lorries, collected money or taken part.
The Landau and horses had been a new innovation for the Queen, her Prince and Princess.
Throughout the year, Andrew Dean had organised monthly Bingo sessions, proceeds of which had gone towards running the event.
As a result, more than £1,000 had been available for profit share to participating village organisations or individual entries.
Our new Chairman is Andrew Dean, with Andrew Norton continuing as Treasurer and Gemma Denford as Secretary. Ray Sanders remains the President, and continues to ring a bell announcing the event on the morning of Carnival Day.
