TWO charities shared almost £400 as a result of entries in the Mole Avon Town and Country Stores' Christmas charity squares prize draw.
The Coronary Care Unit at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Wonford, received £251.20 and Crediton Hospital received £138. The cheques were presented at Mole Avon' Mill Street branch at Crediton.
These charities are close to the hearts of staff there who are always keen to support local charities such as these. Two members of the Mole Avon staff have a connection with the unit.
Kelvin Garnsworthy, Assistant Store Manager at the Crediton branch was a patient at the Coronary Care Unit in 2005. Roy Jury from the Mole Avon Okehampton branch, was himself treated at the unit in 2006.
The charity squares prize draw is an annual event at the branch with entry of £1 per square, although due to the recession, this last draw was reduced to 50p per square! There were many good prizes including a CD player, digital photo frame, wax jackets and waterproof jackets.
Lynn Harris, Healthcare Assistant at the Stroke Medical Ward, Crediton Hospital and Lorna Pain, Matron of the Coronary Care Unit, R D and E received the cheques on behalf of the hospitals.
