THE Mid Devon Ceilidh Band, “Red Shed”, will be holding a public Ceilidh in Sandford Parish Hall on Friday, November 25 to commemorate their drummer of 30 years, Peter Hamilton.
Pete, who only left the band two years ago, died in September 2022, and is much missed.
He started drumming in 1978 with “Hips and Haws”, who did their debut gig that year in Newton St Cyres Parish Hall.
He then played in “The Royal Razz Co”, in the 80’s, before helping to form Red Shed in 1991.
At some point in the evening, as many members of the three bands as possible will play together.
Pete is most strongly associated, locally, with The Crediton Arts Centre and the band have chosen to make this special event a fund-raiser for The Arts Centre, which will also provide the bar.
Good, lively, open Ceilidhs are few and far between these days and, it is hoped, that at a modest £8, this should be a cracker.
The dances will be called by Red Shed’s regular caller, Peter Langley.
Tickets are available from: www.ticketsource.co.uk/creditonartscentre and at the door.
