FareShare is working with Tesco and foodbank charity The Trussell Trust on the seventh Neighbourhood Food Collection - the biggest national food drive. The last collection in July 2015 collected enough food to make more than 3.6 million meals.
All of the food donated will be delivered to FareShare’s Sussex Regional Centre in Brighton before being redistributed to more than 72 regional charities and community organisations which feed more than 3,495 people each week.
Marion Sheehan, FareShare Sussex Project Manager, says: “Each volunteer can help us collect enough food for 500 meals in just three hours – and the more volunteers we have, the more food we can collect to help reach more people in need.
“It really is a fun and rewarding experience to be involved in one of the biggest food drives in the country and something that you can do with your family, friends and local community.”
