I HAVE no doubt that more housing is needed, affordable or not, but the two developments in Crediton totalling nearly 500 homes seems to be more than existing services can cope with.
There appears to be no provision for extra school places or medical services. Are the present facilities expected to absorb the increased population?
More vehicles on the main road will have a profound effect on the communities between Crediton and Exeter.
Will provision be made by the developers for traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings in these busy residential areas?
It is quite clear that Devon County Council is determined to meet some target, presumably set by central government, for building new houses and will do so without any regard for infrastructure or welfare of existing rural communities.
