CONTRARY to local rumour in and around Crediton during the last week, Town & Countrywear, Mole Avon’s shop on Crediton High Street, is not closing down.

Indeed there has been a lot of activity at Town & Countrywear in the last two weeks which started with an amazing clearance sale, but this was to make way for a new-look, refurbished store.

The store will soon offer fashion, country clothing and footwear for ladies, as well as adding a range of men’s products.

Whilst retaining many of its existing brands, there will be no fewer than eight new brand arrivals including Ariat, Jack Murphy, Lighthouse by Target Dry, Wrangler and Sherwood Forest.

Following Mole Avon’s announcement a few weeks ago that it had acquired land at Wellparks, Exeter Road to open a new Mole Avon Town & Country Store, the business is delighted to be making major investments in the town again by refurbishing Town & Countrywear.

"We have been trading on the High Street in Crediton for the past 24 years and our decision to invest significantly in this outlet hopefully demonstrates our commitment to High Street retailing and supporting the local community," said Mike Haines, Mole Avon’s Managing Director.

"As well as extending our range in the shop, we have retained the highly successful arrangements for dry cleaning, laundry and shoe repairs plus, of course, we will continue to offer our range of school uniform for the six local schools we currently support."

Town & Countrywear is also a local stockist for Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE).

" Don’t forget for every purchase of a QE School jacket, pullover or tie this summer you will be entered into a draw to win an iPad nano!

“These are exciting times for Crediton High Street,” says Danielle Day, buyer for Mole Avon, who added: “I am delighted that we will be stocking some great brands for both men and ladies and that we can offer something fresh and new for the high street.

"Watch this space for more new brands to follow!”
