CREDITON Coffee Company in Market Street had a visit from local MP Mel Stride on Friday, November 26, ahead of Small Business Saturday this weekend.

Owner Dan Webb caught up with the MP and talked about the challenges local businesses are still facing as the country continues to combat Covid-19.

The pair are appealing to residents in and around Crediton to get behind local businesses this winter by doing their Christmas shopping locally and enjoying a meal or two at a local pub or café.

Dan said: “It’s great that Mel is continuing to fly the flag for Crediton’s small businesses. We have a wonderful variety of small independent shops here in Crediton, but we’ve had a tough time during the past two years as the pandemic has taken its toll.

“The more support we have this winter the more likely we are to bounce back strongly in 2022.”

Mel added: “Small Business Saturday is a great initiative that shines a light on the small businesses that make market towns like Crediton what they are. Collectively we can make a big difference to our local economy by shopping locally as often as we can and supporting our local pubs and cafés.”

Now in its ninth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday has grown significantly each year with a record £1.1 billion spent with small businesses on the day in 2020.
