The Old Malt Scoop has gone from strength-to-strength in its first year
SINCE re-opening the Old Malt Scoop Inn at Lapford a year ago Linda and Trevor Voaden who took over the freehold of the historic inn have been working on a comprehensive programme of renovation and refurbishment.
During the first two weeks the couple stripped the inn and created a comfortable, contemporary environment while at the same time retaining many of the original features of the historic Grade II listed property.
There are now several elegant dining areas serving a modern take on traditional pub fare created by an excellent kitchen team.
The extensive makeover included exposing the original stone walls, new furniture and fittings throughout, wood burners in the bar and restaurant, a new kitchen and patio furniture in the secluded outside area.
The large beer garden to the rear of the property provides extensive views over the countryside and has been landscaped and returfed. A heated, wooden Gazebo is a popular addition to the beer garden and can be hired out for 8-10 people.
The car park has also been cleared and extended and Linda and Trevor are pleased to announce that they have pre-planning permission to convert the outside barn into en-suite accommodation.
The couple are delighted that the inn has gone from strength-to-strength and that they have now built a reputation for genuine hospitality are able to offer customers good quality food and drink in a comfortable and attractive environment.
Customers can choose from the menu which includes a selection of old favourites and new dishes which are added on a regular basis - all locally sourced and cooked on the premises.
Food is available from 12 noon to 2pm and from 6pm to 9pm every day. As well as 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday.
