TWENTY-FIVE members of Crediton branch Royal British Legion have totted up 445 years' service between them for the Poppy Appeal and received badges or brooches and certificates.

Mrs Maggie Sandercock was the longest serving, having given 45 years to the RBL Poppy Appeal, and being local organiser for some years until two years ago.

The awards were presented at the Crediton branch coffee morning on Armed Services' Day. Club president Charlie Haydon praised the work of all the Poppy Appeal helpers.

Thirty year awards went to: Mrs Dorothy Knowles, Mrs Honour Heard, Mrs Hazelhurst, Mrs Shelagh Pollard, Linda Heard and Pat Ellis.

Fifteen year award went to: Arnold Vosper (who was chairman for 10 years and Standard Bearer), Gary Hughes, Leslie Hancock, Judy Tucker, Isobel Mortimer, Mrs J Stone, Sue Trembath, Mandy Rowe, Bob Browning, Lyn Hughes, Jill King and Heather Nott.

Ten year awards went to: Peter Brewer, Mary Butler, Kathleen Hughes, Ann Green, Neil Easden and Ivan Grant.
