LATER this year, Bridget Pike of Crediton business A & S Paving will be taking part in the Great Wall of China Trek for Hospiscare in memory of her brother.
She will be holding a Charity Evening (supported by A & S Paving) at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum on Friday, March 15, starting at 8pm to help raise funds for the trek.
There will be music for dancing from Jason Toft, a buffet, an auction and a raffle.
Bridget explained: “This year marks 10 years without our dear brother Philip Vinnicombe, he was only 50-years-old when he was diagnosed and died from pancreatic cancer.
“This year I have decided to raise some money for a good cause.
“As a family effected by cancer it is difficult to know which ‘good cause’ to support but we have decided to support Hospiscare because of the help and aftercare we received at such a devastating time.
“Hospiscare is our local hospice providing care for terminally ill patients and their families in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. They are reliant on 80 per cent of funding coming from the local community through donations, fundraising, their shops, lottery and gifts in wills.
“Later in the year I hope to be walking part of the Great Wall of China, in Philip’s memory, in the mean time to raise support and awareness we are organising some charity events, the first being the Charity Evening.”
Tickets, priced at £20 per person are available in advance from A & S Paving.
Bridget would love to see you at the dance or if you would like any further information or can help in any way please email at: [email protected] or ring Bridget or Mandy on 01363 775017 ext 2.
All donations to Hospiscare will be in support of Bridget’s Great Wall of China Trek.
