CHEQUES totalling £2,897 have been presented to deserving organisations by the outgoing president of Crediton Boniface Rotary club.

At a meeting held at the club's meeting place, the New Inn, Coleford, rotarian Steve Rowe, presented a cheque for £1,707 to the Childrens Hospice, South West, Little Bridge House, Fremington and a cheque for £250 each to Crediton and District Community Transport and Crediton and District Boy Scouts.

The president thanked club members for their support during the year's fund raising events and members of the public for their support.

The proprietor of the New Inn, Mr George Cowie, presented a cheque for £690 to the Hospice, half of the proceeds of the Christmas raffle organised by him and his wife, Carol, jointly with the rotary club.
