COLDRIDGE residents enjoyed a party in Coldridge Village Hall to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The party was organised by the Parish Council and Village Hall committee and everyone tucked in to a Bring and Share supper.

A celebration cake, made by Mrs Shirley King, was cut by the Jeff Burrows, a former chairman of the Parish Council.

Before the lighting of the Beacon, prepared by Chris Burrows, there was a short speech and message of good wishes to the Queen by the chairman of the Parish Council, Andrew Green.

John Smith also led a rendition of “God Save the Queen”.

The beacon was lit by a senior member of the community, Mr Norman Allnut.

The beacon burned impressively and those attending could also see the Morchard Bishop beacon in the distance.
