THREE local community projects are among the latest to receive awards from the Big Lottery Fund.

Upstream Healthy Living Centre, of Crediton, will receive £8,161 to establish Cognitive Activity Groups for Mid Devon.

The group says it will use the funding to provide cognitive therapy sessions to people living with memory issues, helping to improve their mental and physical well-being.

Cheriton Bishop Community Primary School will receive £10,000.

It says a new outdoor play area will be created with the funding, which will support children who have a range of physical and learning needs.

It adds that this will encourage the pupils to become more active by engaging them in creative play.

Burrington Village Hall and Recreation Area near Umberleigh will receive £9,445 for the enhancement of the facilities for committee/meeting rooms.

This hall committee will use the funding to improve the facilities at the village hall for people who are living with hearing issues, as well as making these facilities more user-friendly in general. This will enhance the facilities on offer for wider community groups in the local area.
