CREDITON Town Council, Mid Devon District Council, Rev Matthew Tregenza and member of the Royal British Legion plus former Services members led the two minutes silence on Armistice Day on Tuesday, November 11 at Crediton Town and Hamlet War Memorial.

This took place as a mark of respect and acknowledgement for the sacrifices made by others in order that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom in a democratic society.
There were many members of the public present and representatives from Hayward’s Primary School, Pippins Nursery and Pre-School, Queen Elizabeth’s School, representatives from Crediton Hamlets Parish Council, Crediton Police, Crediton Army Cadets and other organisations present.


The Chairman of Crediton Town Council, Mayor of Crediton Cllr Steve Huxtable and Rev Matthew Tregenza led the proceedings with Henry Parker, President, Crediton branch of the Royal British Legion and Commander Brian Boxall-Hunt OBE.
A musician from Crediton Town Band played before and after the two minutes silence.


The Vice Chair of Mid Devon District Council, Councillor Sandy Chenore, laid the wreath on behalf of Mid Devon District Council.
Other wreaths were laid by children from Pippins, Hayward’s Primary School, Landscore Primary School and Queen Elizabeth’s School.


At Cullompton the Deputy Leader of Mid Devon District Council, Councillor David Wulff, joined representatives from Cullompton Town Council and the Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in the Bull Ring. Maroons were set off at the commencement and end of the silence.
The Chair of Mid Devon District Council, Councillor Gordon Czapiewski, together with the Mayor of Tiverton, and representatives from the Royal British Legion observe the two-minute silence in Phoenix Lane. Councillor Czapiewski made the announcement before the start of the silence. As in Cullompton maroons were set off to mark the commencement and end of the silence.
