AT the Crediton Town and Hamlets War Memorial at 11am on November 11 (Armistice Day), a small crowd gathered, including senior members of the top two classes of Hayward’s Primary School and children from Pippins Pre-School and Nursery, continuing a 100 years-old ceremony.

The weather held off. Traffic was stopped although not all vehicles switched off their engines during the two minutes silence.

The Act of Remembrance started and ended by a maroon let off in Newcombes Meadow.

Cllr Derek Coren laid a wreath on behalf of Mid Devon District Council. Also in attendance was Cllr Frank Letch, Mayor of Crediton and Cllr Renee Jarvis, a member of Crediton Hamlets Parish Council.

The Standard for Crediton branch Royal British Legion was carried by branch President Mike May and Arnold Vosper, former branch chairman and for almost 30 years Standard Bearer, was also there.
