APPLICATIONS are now open for the Community Councillor Grants scheme at North Devon Council.

The scheme offers support to organisations and projects that directly help local people, the local environment and the local community. Each North Devon councillor has £1,000 to award to projects or groups throughout the year.

Youth clubs, toddler groups, sports clubs, museums, village halls and environmental groups have all benefited from grants in the past for running costs, start-up costs or equipment for a new project or service.

To qualify for a Community Councillor Grant applicants must be a not-for-profit organisation that benefits the people and environment of North Devon.

Leader of North Devon Council, Cllr Des Brailey says: "Each year our Community Councillor grants help a variety of small projects get off the ground and support local clubs and organisations to continue their valuable community work. There’s lots of information on the council website, including a list of all the projects and organisations we supported last year through the fund. Go online to see if your project could qualify for funding, or get in touch with your local councillor for more information."
