THE Welcoming Refugees in Crediton group has organised another collection of clothes and equipment to support refugees in camps in Greece, the Middle East and Calais.

The collection of donated items will take place at Crediton Congregational Church from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, January 26.

Collections will be taken to the warehouse of Refugee Aid Taunton and from there to refugee camps in Greece and the Middle East, and also Calais.

Since it is still winter, warm clothes clean and in excellent condition are sought, as well as boots, shoes and trainers. Also blankets, sleeping bags and waterproofs.

Items of personal hygiene and first aid are also needed. And items for babies eg clothes/nappies etc.

There is a special request for children’s scarves this time.

Food items are also welcome e.g. tinned foods, especially with ring pull tops. but not baked beans! And pasta, rice, herbs and spices and energy bars.

A spokesman said: "We filled a van at our last collection in November, thanks to the generosity of people in Crediton and we hope to do this again. Please come along to donate what you can."
