DURING Lockdown, Ann McCafferty of Thurlow Close, Crediton kept herself busy creating things made mostly from recycled items she collected.

She made a Nativity scene, a wedding display, and a Father Christmas in a sleigh with five reindeer. She also made a bird table and a planter for the garden as well as a doll’s house with furniture inside.

Ann is very active at Thurlow Close and has encouraged other residents to take part in a sunflower competition and Easter and Mother’s Day crafts.

She also raised money for Red Nose Day.

Her latest project involves knitting very large squares for the RSPCA to be made into blankets.

Support workers, Marion and Tracy said: “Ann likes to do lots of charity work and we are very proud of her for what she has achieved during lockdown.”

Ann used lots of things in her craftwork including kitchen roll tubes, plastic containers, tights and stockings, and even old issues of the “Crediton Courier!”

She jokingly said: “I hope the recycling people weren’t too annoyed with me as their recycling boxes were empty!

“I would like to thank Marion and Tracy and everyone else for all their help.”

People will be able to make an appointment to go and see Ann’s displays and a collection box will be sited inside at the close for people to make a donation. All proceeds will be divided between the RSPCA and Cancer Research UK.
